Our Practice

Specialized care, guided by science

We specialize in the neuropsychological and learning consultation and evaluation of children, adolescents, and adults — combining deep clinical expertise with a warm, family-friendly approach.

Areas of expertise

What we evaluate & treat

Our doctors have deep experience across the childhood conditions that affect neurodevelopment — refining diagnoses and building practical, research-based plans.

Our core diagnostic service

Learning & Attentional Disorders

All psychologists support this service, which provides individualized assessment for preschool through college-age students where a learning disability or attentional disorder is suspected. The program refines the diagnosis and builds a remediation plan for schools to address the issues at hand. Careful monitoring of the child's progress is a key element — it removes the mystery of whether the child is actually benefiting from remediation, and allows fine-tuning of intervention over time.

Early diagnosis and comprehensive planning

Autism Spectrum & Early Language Disorders

Dr. Dorta and Mrs. Zinna, our speech pathologist, primarily see these children. We can evaluate children from six months of age through young adulthood where Autism is suspected or was diagnosed in the past. We seek to establish an early diagnosis so that early intervention can begin. For previously diagnosed and often older children, we complement medical services by refining a comprehensive rehabilitation plan and addressing the neurocognitive and psychiatric comorbidities often found in Autism. Careful school-service planning and implementation is a critical feature of our service.

Led by Dr. McDonough-Ryan

Concussion & Traumatic Brain Injury

The Concussion and TBI program provides individualized care & outreach/consult services to youth sports programs. Our doctors also have extensive experience working with schools in the development and implementation of concussion management programs. A range of services is provided in close collaboration with the referring physician and can include neurocognitive assessment, cognitive rehabilitation, and school service planning.

Our philosophy

How we work

The practice specializes in the neuropsychological evaluation of infants to young adults. The practice is organized around some basic tenets:

  • To provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art services in a child and parent-friendly atmosphere.

  • To have our work guided by science and research-based evidence.

  • To work collaboratively with outside doctors and educators in order to provide the best care to our patients.

  • To provide results in a time-sensitive manner which assist healthcare providers and educators in the remediation/rehabilitation of the issues at hand.

  • To foster a practice where continuing education and involvement in research is seen as critical to improving patient care.
